Why Are Bio Identical Hormones considered to be safer than synthetic hormones?

Updated: Feb 1, 2021

The hormones used in traditional HRT are made from the urine of pregnant horses and other synthetically made hormones. Bioidentical hormones are natural, made from ingredients such as soy and yam, and identical in makeup to the hormones the body produces naturally. This has long been their appeal and why patients swear by BHRT!

Women are thrilled with their symptoms subsiding as a result of BHRT. With their inclusion of estrogen and progesterone, they enjoy the return of their sex drive and libido. Even though testosterone is known as a “male hormone”, women also produced testosterone and need small and balanced amounts of it too, to help maintain lean muscle, lower body fat and increased energy.

A common question is "how long will the treatment last"? With pellets and BHRT, treatments usually last for approximately 4 months at a time. After 4 months, symptoms of menopause and andropause will begin to return. Once your next treatment is administered, symptoms subside within a couple of days.

But do women need to take these hormones for the rest of their lives now that they have started the treatment? Not necessarily, it is such an individualized scenario. It really depends on how your body is aging, how long your personal menopausal symptoms last, and how well you manage your diet, sleep patterns, exercise and stress levels that will assist you in regaining hormonal balance.
